Shafic Abboud is one of the major figures of contemporary art. Born in Lebanon, he arrives in Paris in 1947, looking for the modernity embodied by the French artists of the XXth century. Shafic Abboud particularly admires Pierre Bonnard, Roger Bissière and Nicolas de Staël. Between lyrical abstraction and expressionism, his work pays an exceptional attention to pictorial material.
